Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how MapleFind ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and retains personal information when you use MapleFind (the "Service"). It also explains your choices and rights. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to privacy@maplefind.com.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: email addresses, account identifiers, authentication records, and public nicknames. If you use an external sign-in provider, we receive account information such as your email address, name, and profile image, and store the account linkage needed for sign-in.
- Content you provide: character and guild listings, profile details, optional contact information, images, comments, private messages, future messages, and search or reunion requests. This includes public game information or character images you choose to attach to listings.
- Activity and preferences: notification settings, subscriptions, message delivery and read status, interactions with listings, and interface preferences.
- Support and safety information: reports, complaints, correspondence, and records relating to moderation, security, content removal, and account deletion. We also record your agreement to the Terms and acknowledgment of this Privacy Policy, including the document versions and confirmation date and time.
- Technical and usage information: IP addresses, browser and device information, pages visited, referring pages, timestamps, and diagnostic or security information processed by the Service and its hosting and analytics providers.
Some information is necessary to create an account or provide a requested feature. Without it, that feature may be unavailable. Optional profile information, contact details, and uploaded content are provided at your discretion.
Optional Nexon character information
Optional character lookups share the searched character name with Nexon's public ranking service and retrieve available character information and images. Information you choose to attach is stored and displayed with your public listing. This does not verify that you own the character or establish a connection to your Nexon account.
Externally hosted character images may disclose technical request information, such as your IP address and browser details, to Nexon. Nexon operates independently under its own Privacy Policy. MapleFind does not request your Nexon login credentials.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Create and authenticate accounts and manage access to the Service.
- Publish listings and comments, provide search, and deliver messages and notifications.
- Send verification, password-reset, security, and necessary service communications.
- Send optional activity emails when you enable email notifications.
- Respond to support requests, investigate reports, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service, including understanding website usage.
- Meet legal obligations and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our agreement with you for necessary account and service functions; legitimate interests in maintaining and protecting the Service and responding to requests, where those interests are not overridden by your rights; compliance with legal obligations; and consent where required, including for optional communications or technologies that require consent. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
3. Public content and messages
Listings, listing images, comments, public nicknames, member pages, and contact details you include in public fields are accessible to others and may appear in search results. Others may copy, save, or share public information. Your account email address and external sign-in name are not displayed publicly as account information; an email address or name you independently include in public content is public.
Private messages are accessible to conversation participants and are not published on public listing pages. Private and future messages are stored on our systems and are not end-to-end encrypted. We can access stored messages for service operation, support, safety investigations, or legal requirements.
Future messages may be delivered to users who create listings matching the target character name and, where specified, server. We do not verify ownership of in-game names. A recipient may not be the person you intended, and multiple users may receive the same message. Previews may appear in recipients' notifications, including email notifications when enabled. Avoid sharing sensitive or confidential information.
4. How we share information
- With other users and the public: as described above and according to the listing, comment, messaging, or notification features you use.
- With service providers: providers of hosting, database services, image storage, email delivery, website analytics, and technical infrastructure process information needed to support those functions.
- With services you choose to use: external sign-in services and linked resources receive information necessary for your interaction. Requests for externally hosted images or resources may disclose technical information such as your IP address to their operators.
- For legal and safety reasons: where required by law or reasonably necessary and legally permitted to respond to valid legal process, prevent harm, investigate abuse, or protect rights and security.
- In an organizational transfer: if ownership or operation of the Service changes, information may be transferred subject to applicable legal requirements and appropriate confidentiality protections. We will provide notice where required.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not currently display third-party advertising or use advertising cookies on the Service. Website analytics are used to understand and improve the Service.
External websites, sign-in services, and optional donation services have their own privacy practices. This policy covers our processing rather than their independent activities. We do not receive payment card details for donations through external services.
5. Cookies, browser storage, and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sign-in sessions, support security, and remember interface preferences. Website analytics help us understand visits and usage, including pages viewed and browser, device, and referral information.
You can manage cookies and stored website data through your browser settings. Blocking or clearing them may sign you out or affect features and preferences. Where applicable law requires consent for a technology or use of information, that consent must be obtained separately; this policy does not itself provide that consent.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain account information and User Content while your account is active or as needed to provide the features you use, unless you delete them or request deletion. Undelivered future messages may remain stored for delivery if a matching listing is created. Hiding a message from your view does not delete its stored record.
You can edit or delete your listings and comments using the available controls, manage optional email notifications in Settings, remove your application content while keeping your login, or delete your account and associated content. The removal process also deletes associated listing images stored by the Service. Contact us for requests that cannot be completed using these controls. If you do not complete onboarding, you can still contact us for account deletion or other privacy requests without agreeing to the Terms or acknowledging this policy.
Policy confirmation records are kept with your account, including when you remove application content while keeping your login. They are deleted from our active systems when you delete your account, subject to the backup retention described below.
Limited security and deletion audit records may remain after content or account deletion, including internal account identifiers, event types, and timestamps. We may also retain information where necessary for legal obligations, preventing abuse, or resolving disputes. Retention depends on the purpose of the record, its sensitivity, applicable legal requirements, and operational backup cycles. Backup copies and infrastructure logs may remain until removed through the relevant retention cycles.
Deletion from the Service does not remove copies saved by other users, content included in previously delivered emails, or copies held by search engines or other independent third parties.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; and withdraw consent. You may also have a right to complain to the data protection authority in your jurisdiction. These rights may be subject to lawful exceptions.
To exercise a right, use the available account controls or contact privacy@maplefind.com. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or authority, and will respond within the deadlines required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
8. International processing
Our infrastructure and service providers may process information in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we must use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism. Contact us for information about the locations and safeguards relevant to your data. Using the Service does not waive your privacy rights or substitute for legally required transfer safeguards.
9. Security
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information. No online service or storage system can guarantee complete security. Protect your account credentials and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access or a security issue.
10. Children and minimum age
The Service is not directed to children under 13 or below a higher minimum age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users below that minimum age. If you believe such a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the latest revision. We will provide notice of material changes through the Service or an available contact method and obtain consent where required before using information for a new purpose. Continued use alone does not constitute consent where the law requires a separate choice.
