Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of MapleFind, including its website, accounts, content, and features (the "Service"). References to "we," "us," and "our" mean MapleFind. If you do not agree to these Terms, discontinue use of the Service. Where prompted, you must expressly agree to these Terms before continuing to use the Service while signed in. Your agreement applies from that point forward. The Privacy Policy separately explains our information practices.
1. The Service
MapleFind is a community platform for reconnecting with former players and guildmates. It currently provides free access to listings, search, comments, and messaging. We do not verify users' real identities, ownership of in-game names, or the accuracy of submissions. We do not guarantee a match, a response, or successful message delivery.
MapleFind is an unofficial community project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by Nexon.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old and satisfy any higher minimum age required by applicable law. If you are below the age of legal majority, you may use the Service only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, where permitted by law.
Provide accurate account information, keep your credentials confidential, and use only accounts you are authorized to access. You are responsible for your use of the account. Promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access. You may not transfer or sell your account without our written permission.
3. User content and public information
You are responsible for the listings, images, comments, messages, contact details, and other material you submit ("User Content"). You represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary to submit that material and that its use as described in these Terms does not violate applicable law or another person's rights.
Listings, listing images, comments, public nicknames, and contact details included in public fields are visible to others and may be indexed, copied, or shared. Do not submit passwords, financial details, identity documents, precise home addresses, or another person's private information without appropriate authorization.
Private messages are not published on public listing pages, but are stored on our systems and are not end-to-end encrypted. Future messages may be made available to users who create a matching character listing. A matching name does not establish that a recipient is the person you intended to contact, and multiple users may receive the message. Do not include sensitive or confidential information in messages.
4. Permission to use your content
You retain any ownership rights you hold in your User Content. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and distribute that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and provide the Service. This includes displaying public submissions and delivering messages according to the features you use. We may authorize our service providers to perform these activities on our behalf.
This license ends when your content is deleted from our active systems, except to the extent necessary for limited backup retention, legal obligations, or resolving disputes, as described in the Privacy Policy. Deletion does not retrieve copies already received, saved, or shared by others.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use the Service unlawfully or submit fraudulent, unlawful, or infringing content.
- Impersonate others, misrepresent affiliations, or make deceptive ownership claims.
- Harass, threaten, exploit, or abuse others, or disclose private information without authorization.
- Send spam, malicious links, or unsolicited bulk messages.
- Harvest personal information or contact details for unsolicited marketing or other unauthorized uses.
- Bypass access controls, compromise accounts, misuse reports, or introduce malicious software.
- Use unauthorized automation, scraping, or excessive requests that interfere with the Service or connected services.
- Evade restrictions or assist others in violating these Terms.
6. Moderation and complaints
We may investigate reports, restrict visibility, remove content, or suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address violations, security risks, legal obligations, or harm to users. We may act without advance notice when immediate action is necessary. We do not promise to monitor every submission or prevent all misconduct. Automated filters and moderation do not guarantee that content is safe or accurate.
Use the available reporting features or contact us to report abuse or privacy violations. Identify the material and explain your concern. Intellectual property complaints are addressed in section 7. You may also contact us to request review of a moderation decision. We will handle complaints as required by applicable law.
7. Intellectual property and Nexon
Except for User Content and third-party materials, the Service's software, design, branding, and original materials are owned by us or our licensors. Subject to these Terms, you may use the Service for its intended purposes. You may not reproduce, sell, or otherwise exploit those materials without permission, except where applicable law allows it.
MapleStory, Nexon, and related game names, logos, artwork, character images, and other game materials belong to Nexon or their respective rights holders. MapleFind does not claim ownership of those materials. References to the game and the display of game-related information do not transfer ownership. These Terms do not grant you a license to Nexon's intellectual property or authorize infringement.
Game-related information and images may be incomplete, outdated, or unavailable and do not verify ownership of a character or account. Nexon independently controls its games and services, including their rules and availability. When using those services, you must comply with their applicable terms.
Rights holders may contact us at privacy@maplefind.com to raise an intellectual property concern. Please identify the material, explain the rights involved, and provide contact information so we can review and respond as required by applicable law.
8. Other users and third-party services
You are responsible for deciding whether to trust another user, follow a link, disclose information, or communicate outside the Service. We do not endorse user submissions or third-party websites. External authentication, linked resources, and optional donation services are subject to their providers' own terms and privacy practices. We do not receive payment card details for donations through external services. External support payments do not purchase Service access or guarantee an outcome.
9. Availability and discontinuation
We may modify, restrict, or discontinue features or the Service for operational, security, or legal reasons. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, preservation of content, or compatibility with every device. Where reasonably practicable, we will give notice of a material discontinuation. Keep your own copies of content you wish to preserve.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant content accuracy, user identity or conduct, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or losses of profits, revenue, business opportunities, goodwill, or data arising from or related to the Service. Subject to the exceptions below, our total aggregate liability arising from or related to the Service will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid directly to us for use of the Service during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. These Terms do not remove mandatory consumer rights or other protections available under applicable law.
12. Responsibility for third-party claims
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify us against third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful User Content, intentional misuse of the Service, or violation of another person's rights. This does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own breach of these Terms, negligence, or unlawful conduct. We will notify you of a claim and give you a reasonable opportunity to participate in its defense. We will not agree to a settlement imposing an obligation on you without your consent, which must not be unreasonably withheld.
13. Ending your use
You may stop using the Service at any time and use Settings to remove your content or delete your account. Termination does not affect obligations that arose before it occurred. If you choose not to complete onboarding, you can sign out and contact us to request account deletion or exercise applicable privacy rights without accepting these Terms. Provisions concerning intellectual property, accrued claims, disclaimers, liability, and disputes survive where relevant. Retention and deletion are described in the Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms. The date above identifies the latest revision. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the Service or an available contact method, unless a legal or security need requires an earlier change. Changes apply prospectively from the stated effective date. Where required by law, we will obtain your agreement before applying them. If you do not agree to revised Terms, discontinue use.
15. Disputes and general provisions
Please contact us so we can attempt to resolve a concern. This does not restrict your right to seek legal remedies or contact a regulator. Applicable law determines the law governing a dispute and the courts with jurisdiction. These Terms do not require arbitration or restrict any mandatory right to bring a claim in your local courts.
If a provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcement is not a waiver. These Terms govern use of the Service; the Privacy Policy separately explains our information practices.
